Senior Test Automation Engineer

Introduction

Help engineering teams move faster with confidence. As Senior Test Automation Engineer at HelloPrint, you will build the automated testing foundation behind an international e-commerce platform. You will own the Platform Test Harness, creating reliable end-to-end, API and contract tests that protect critical customer journeys and integrations.

As HelloPrint rebuilds its platform and increases its use of AI-assisted development, your work will help keep quality at the centre of delivery. You will work closely with software engineers, Product Owners and a QA Automation Engineer to define what good looks like before development starts. From test architecture to faster CI pipelines, you will have a direct influence on how teams build and release software.

Required Skills

  • At least five years of hands-on software testing and automation experience as an SDET or QA Automation Engineer.
  • Experience with modern web applications and distributed APIs.
  • Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript or JavaScript and Playwright or Cypress.
  • Experience building stable automated test suites with minimal flakiness.
  • Practical experience testing REST APIs, webhooks and JSON data contracts across microservices.
  • Working knowledge of GitHub Actions or an equivalent CI system.
  • Knowledge of parallel test runners, containerised test execution and pipeline debugging.
  • A practical understanding of how AI tools affect software development and test architecture.
  • Strong ownership, the ability to work independently and a mindset focused on building quality into development from the start.
  • Availability to work full-time from the Rotterdam office, five days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain reliable end-to-end test suites using Playwright and TypeScript.
  • Build automated safeguards for frequent AI-assisted code changes.
  • Implement API schema validation and contract tests for platform services and partner integrations.
  • Work with Product Owners and engineers to define interfaces, edge cases and the Definition of Done before development starts.
  • Optimise GitHub Actions pipelines through parallel testing, caching and faster feedback.
  • Turn confirmed production incidents into permanent automated regression tests.
  • Mentor the QA Automation Engineer and software engineers on integration testing and TDD.
  • Review and improve AI-generated test code.
  • Monitor test coverage, execution time, stability and early regression detection.
