Required Skills
- 5+ years backend engineering experience in production environments
- Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS required; Azure acceptable)
- Experience designing and maintaining scalable backend systems
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and system architecture
- Experience in B2B SaaS or comparable environments
- Startup mindset (fast cycles, autonomy, ownership)
- Fluent English (Dutch is a plus but not strictly required)
- Must be based in Belgium and able to work in Ghent 3+ days/week
Key Responsibilities
- Build, design, and maintain scalable backend systems powering the Guestway platform
- Own AWS cloud architecture (Lambda, SQS, EC2, S3, observability stack)
- Develop robust APIs and distributed backend services
- Collaborate closely with CTO and product team on architecture and roadmap
- Define and improve engineering standards, tooling, and best practices
- Ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of core systems
- Work closely with frontend and mobile engineers in a small team
- Contribute to the evolution of a rapidly scaling SaaS product
